Twin Terror Attacks in South Kashmir | Ex-Sarpanch killed, couple injured

 A former Sarpanch was killed and a couple from Rajasthan injured in two separate terror attacks in Shopian and Anantnag districts of south Kashmir on Saturday evening, Police said.

In the first incident, terrorists targeted Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, a former Sarpanch from Haripora, Shopian. The attack took place in the evening, and Sheikh was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

Despite efforts by medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The Kashmir Zone Police confirmed the attack in a post on the microblogging site ‘X’, stating, “#Terrorist fired upon a person Aijaz Ahmad at Heerpora, #Shopian. Injured evacuated. The area has been cordoned off. Further details to follow.@JmuKmrPolice.”

They later updated, “He was removed to hospital but succumbed to grievous injuries during the initial treatment.”

Sheikh had been elected as a Sarpanch on a BJP ticket.
