Batamaloo residents take to streets over acute water scarcity

Residents of Batamaloo in Srinagar once again took to the streets on Tuesday to voice their anger over the acute shortage of water in the locality.

The protest, predominantly led by women from Momin Abad, saw them blocking the road and staging a sit-in protest, raising slogans against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department for nearly an hour.

Braving the scorching heat, the protesting ladies sat in a line across the road, forcing commuters to halt their vehicles. The demonstration disrupted the traffic flow in the area as the residents expressed their frustration over the prolonged water crisis.

One of the protesters, speaking to Kashmir News Trust, lamented that the Moominabad locality has been grappling with an acute shortage of drinking water, and despite repeated appeals, the authorities have turned a blind eye to their plight.
