Advisor Bhatnagar inaugurates Mega Job Fair-2023 at Jammu

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today inaugurated the Mega Job Fair-2023, organised by Labour and Employment Department at Convention Centre here.
After inaugurating the Fair, Advisor Bhatnagar inspected the stalls of employers and held detailed interaction with them regarding the skill requirements of their respective units and companies. He assured them that the curriculum in all the technical institutions has been designed keeping in view the skill gap and the present and future job roles initiatives under NEP-2020 will revamp the skill ecosystem as it includes the school and college going students also.
The Advisor, on the occasion, also interacted with various job seekers and assured them all possible assistance for them to get jobs and also to make them self employable. He advised them to take maximum benefits of this Fair so that they can get employability as per their skill.
Later, on the Advisor Bhatnagar held a detailed interaction with the job providers representing different companies and industrial associations.
During the interaction, the Advisor highlighted that this Job Fair is a mega platform for both employers and job seekers as it will provide avenues for both of them as per their requirements and bring them face to face He added that this fair is also a platform to ascertain the potential of youth and how that potential can be optimised for their future prospects.
Advisor Bhatnagar further stated that as per the Industrial Policy, the UT of J&K is going to have a huge investment particularly in the Infrastructure development sector which will make the UT of J&K a ‘Land of Opportunities’ and ‘Sunrise Region of the Country’ and therefore the and emphasised that the Youth of J&K should grab this great opportunity by participating in such type of Job Fairs.
Divulging on different interventions of J&K Government for upgradation of Skill infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir, Advisor Bhatnagar remarked that the Skill ecosystem in J&K has been upgraded and lot of advanced courses in line with NEP-2020 are being made available for the students. He advised the employers to suggest any kind of upgradation in any course as per their industrial requirements and also analyse the courses across the country for replicating same here.
Acknowledging the suggestions of the participants, the Advisor asked them to take students for internship and apprenticeship programmes in their respective companies so that they get on the job training and experience on the same besides an interest for the job will also be created among them.
The Advisor further highlighted that the present LG led Administration is pushing also for the Self Employment across Jammu and Kashmir as lots of scheme in different sectors have been initiated by the government for creating employability avenues for the youth. He added that under the Back to Village (B2V) and My Town My Pride (MTMP) programme, the Administration has identified around 80,000 youth from all districts who will be skilled in different fields.
Asserting that the J&K is booming with accelerated growth in last few years, Advisor Bhatnagar remarked that the Hospitality and Tourism Sector across J&K is also seeing a tremendous boom which reflects the vision and commitment of the government to make J&K one of the best sought destinations across globe. He advised all the stakeholders to upgrade their manpower as per the demands so that a world class hospitality industry is established in J&K.
While deliberating on other issues, Advisor Bhatnagar advised all the stakeholder to submit a detailed report of their respective industries regarding skill requirements in their companies so that the department can incorporate such kind skills in the curriculum.
Speaking during the interaction, Commissioner Secretary Labour and Employment, Sarita Chauhan highlighted the activities of the department and objectives of organizing such kind of events across the UT and expressed that the sole aim of the department is to bridge the gap between the job seekers and employers and provide platform for their mutual interaction.
Director Employment, J&K, Nisar Ahmad Wani, while presenting the vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to all the participants especially the employers and representatives of different Industrial Associations for making this fair a grand affair.
Among others, Labour Commissioner J&K, Abdul Rashid War; representatives of different companies and associations like Hoteliers Association Katra, Hoteliers Association Patnitop, Narayana Hospital Katra, Bombay Stock Exchange, Industrial Association Samba, Bari Brahmna Industries, Chenab Textile Mill, J&K, Paramedical Council and others were also present on the occasion.
The Mega Job Fair witnessed a huge participation of job seekers in which more than 60 local and national level employers participated besides the several government deartments also installed their stalls and gave awareness among job seekers regarding various self-employment schemes.
Notably, more than 4000 candidates participated in the Mega Job Fair and around 60 reputed organisations/companies projected jobs openings of around 1911 and about 1000 candidates were shortlisted and a total of 200 candidates were selected on spot.
