Baramulla, March 6: In a joint crackdown on unhygienic food practices, the Municipal Council Baramulla and Baramulla Police conducted a surprise market inspection today. During the raid, officials discovered spoiled and foul-smelling food items, including Kashmiri kebabs and meat, stored in refrigerators of various hotels and shops under unhygienic conditions.

Taking immediate action, the authorities seized and destroyed the contaminated food to prevent any risk to public health. Furthermore, a fine of ₹10,000 was imposed on the violators for not following proper food safety regulations.

Officials from the Municipal Council and Police stressed the importance of hygiene in food businesses and issued strict warnings to all shopkeepers and hoteliers to ensure the sale of fresh and hygienic food. They also assured that regular inspections will continue, and anyone found violating food safety norms will face severe penalties.

The move aims to protect public health and ensure that food served in local eateries meets proper safety standards. The administration has urged citizens to report any instances of substandard or spoiled food being sold in the market.
