SRINAGAR, April 11: In a significant action against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested Ayaz Ahmad Hurra, Girdawar posted at Chatabal (also holding additional charge of Patwari Halqa Habakadal and Halqa Shivpora), and Rafiq Ahmad, Lumberdar of Halqa Habakadal, while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 in Srinagar.

The operation was launched following a written complaint that Hurra had allegedly demanded ₹50,000 in bribe in exchange for providing revenue extracts necessary for the sale deed of an old house at Mandir Bagh, Srinagar.

Acting swiftly, ACB laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while receiving the bribe.

Following the arrests, the ACB carried the operation forward with searches conducted since early morning today at three different locations in Srinagar and Bandipora districts. The raids began at dawn and were carried out with the assistance of Special Magistrates who were deputed with the ACB teams to ensure due legal process.

The searches are part of a wider investigation to gather further evidence and establish any possible connections to a larger network of corruption.

The ACB has reiterated its commitment to rooting out corruption and urged the public to report any unethical practices by public officials.
