On Tuesday, during a flight from Houston, Texas, to Cancun, Mexico, a fire broke out in one of the engines of a Southwest Airlines aircraft. A passenger onboard captured a video of the event, showing flames emerging from the engine while the plane was in mid-air. This video quickly gained popularity on social media platforms.

According to Alyssa Foster, a representative from Southwest Airlines, Flight 307 encountered a “mechanical issue” shortly after departing from William P. Hobby Airport in Houston on Tuesday evening. The exact cause of the incident was not disclosed by Foster. Following the occurrence, the flight returned safely to William P. Hobby Airport and made a successful landing. The aircraft was subsequently withdrawn from service for a thorough assessment.

Foster praised the professionalism of the flight crew and expressed gratitude for the patience of the passengers. She also mentioned that the passengers bound for Cancun were later transported to their destination on a different aircraft later that same night.
