At least four bodies were retrieved even as officials have called off the rescue operation at Gagangir area of Sonmarg after a vehicle carrying eight passengers including tourists plunged into Nallah Sindh Sunday evening along the Srinagar-Leh highway this evening.
Quoting officials a news agency reported that till now only the driver of the vehicle has been safely rescued.
“All the persons on the vehicle except for the driver were tourists,” the official said.
The rescue operation has been called off till tomorrow amid heavy rains in Kashmir, said officials.
After receiving information about the accident this evening a major rescue operation was launched by police, army’s 34 Assam Rifles, Traffic Rural Police, Civil administration, locals, SDRF and NDRF, reports said.
