Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department, Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, who is also Visiting Officer for MC Shopian, today visited Shopian and listened to people’s grievances and demands during ‘My Town My Pride’ programme at Municipal Park Shopian.
On the occasion, a large gathering of citizens participated and raised their grievances and other development issues concerning their respective areas.
While speaking on the occasion, the Visiting Officer said that the main aim of the programme is to take feedback from the people and strengthen bond between the government and the people besides ensuring service delivery at people’s door steps.
The officer inspected stalls highlighting services and products of various departments.
Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, presented a detailed review of all development works being executed in the district saying that the district is progressing in every field of public welfare and development.
Director Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, Mathora Masoom, while speaking on the occasion, gave brief of achievements and targets completed within the given timeframe in MC Shopian.
The departments of Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture, Handloom, Handicrafts, Social Welfare, Revenue, Education, MC, Floriculture and others disseminated information on various schemes of their departments.
A special awareness programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat was also presented by the officials of health department. Besides, special cultural programmes and Marshal Art was also presented on the occasion.
During the programme, the visiting officer also distributed sanction letters, Sehat Cards, land passbooks and agricultural equipments among the beneficiaries.
Later, Secretary inaugurated Public Park at Kanipora, Shopian, completed with a cost of Rs. 28 lakh and newly developed Sumo Stand at Kanipora Shopian worth Rs 25 lakh, both executed by Municipal Council Shopian.
Among others, the programme was attended by President MC, Subhash Chander Koul, SSP Shopian, Tanushree, ADC Shopian, Yar Ali Khan, DDC members, PRI’s, counsellors, senior officers besides locals.
