Commissioner Secretary Forests, Ecology, and Environment, Sanjeev Verma today inaugurated the two days “My Town My Pride” phase-2 programme at Ramban.
Commissioner Secretary who is also the Mentor Secretary of the district Ramban, planted a sapling on the premises of the District Administration Complex, Maitra to mark ‘World Soil Day in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam; President Municipal Council, Sunita Sumberia, ADC, Harbans Lal Sharma, Councillors, ACR, Giasul-Haq, CPO Dr Kasturi Lal, DFOs and senior officers of line departments and the general public.
Verma said that keeping in the view strategic importance of the National Highway town Ramban the creation of modern infrastructure and beautification of the town is the main priority of the Government.
The Commissioner Secretary presided over various events and meetings to discuss the issues and plans with all stakeholders to ensure the holistic development of the district headquarters town. The Councillors, representatives of Beopar Mandal and other organizations highlighted various issues and demands of public interests.
He also interacted with officers of line departments and obtained feedback regarding the overall developmental scenario of the district including major ongoing development works being executed under different flagship schemes.
Verma also distributed sanction letters to the beneficiaries of Tejaswini, Mumkin, PMEGP and Social Welfare Department schemes besides distributing Land Passbooks among the legal land owners.
On the occasion, president MC highlighted various issues like shortage of staff especially Safai Karamcharis, completion of water supply schemes and link roads.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the issue regarding the shortage of Safai Karamchari has already been taken up with the concerned authorities.
He also informed the meeting about initiatives being taken by the departments of District Administration to resolve all the issues of public interest pertaining to their respective departments.
The Commissioner Secretary also directed the CEO MC Ramban to make a plan for a sewerage plant for Ramban town as per guidelines. He also stressed on beautification of Ramban town as it is an important town on the NH44.
Appreciating the District Administration for developing a better service delivery system in the district, the Commissioner Secretary asked officers to further improve the service delivery system from best to excellent to provide benefits of all social and financial assistance schemes to the last person of the society besides ensuring holistic development of the district.
He said that the Forest Department will work on the repair and creation of water bodies for ground recharging which can help the local people in a big way like Amrit Sarovar.
The Commissioner Secretary also administered the pledge against drugs and corruption to participants in two different programmes at Conference Hall Maitra and Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramban besides asking them to implement the pledge in their daily life.
Later, Sanjeev Verma also inspected the stalls set up by the various departments at Dak Bunglow Ramban besides interacting with the members of Beopar Mandal, Ramban. He also inaugurated a Kabaddi match in GMHSS Ramban.
Meanwhile, the Students of GMHSS gave their speeches on the menace of drugs and corruption besides presenting a cultural bonanza.
