Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit the Northern Command Headquarters in Udhampur on February 24, where he will inaugurate a new building of the Command Hospital and engage with senior Army Commanders to discuss the prevailing situation in the Union Territory, officials said here.
This marks his second visit to the Jammu region in under two months. The visit comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tour to Jammu on February 20.
“During his visit, Rajnath Singh will likely receive detailed briefings on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Valley, along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, and the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China in Eastern Ladakh,” the official sources said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to visit J&K on February 20 to address a public rally in Jammu and inaugurate/lay the foundation stone of many developmental projects.
In addition to addressing a large public rally in Jammu, PM Modi will inaugurate a series of developmental projects, including All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Vijaypur in Samba, the highest Railway bridge, which will link Kashmir with the rest of the country by this year, in Reasi district, Devika Rejuvenation project at Udhampur, IIM Jammu and Shahpur Kandi.
