PM Modi on no-confidence motion: On Thursday, August 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present in the Lok Sabha to respond to the opposition’s vote of no confidence in the NDA government. After the prime minister responds to the discussion, there will be a vote, the result of which is already known because the odds are comfortably in the government’s favour.
The Prime Minister will be present in the House on Thursday to respond to the motion of no confidence, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement on Wednesday.
The same was confirmed by the Union Defence Minister just before the House’s adjournment. On July 26, the opposition introduced a no-confidence vote against the Modi administration, which Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla took up. But because his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies hold a majority in the Lok Sabha, Modi’s administration won’t lose the vote.
Rahul Gandhi Criticises the Government for Manipur Violence: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, attacked the Narendra Modi administration on Wednesday for how it had handled the violence in Manipur, claiming that the BJP’s policies had “harmed Bharat Mata” there. This prompted a vehement response from Union ministers Amit Shah and Smriti Irani.
After Gandhi, Irani criticised the former head of the Congress forcefully, claiming that this was the first time such a speech had been made in a parliamentary democracy. “I deplore the behaviour that was shown. The BJP MP claimed that Manipur is an essential component of India and that this was the first time in Parliamentary history that someone had spoken about Bharat Mata in such a way when Congress leaders were banging tables.
She also charged Congress officials with supporting the notion of slicing up India. “Manipur is a part of this country; it is not divided.” The Congress politician turned to the BJP MPs as they booed him as he left the House following his speech and gave them a flying kiss.
