The Srinagar police yesterday evening arrested a maulvi namely Hazafu Rehman S/o Ab Basit R/o Udham nagar Uttrakhand A/P Gulberg colony, on charges of sexually abusing a local girl.
As per the report, Hazafu was nabbed in Gulbery colony in Hyderpora area of Srinagar after the minor complained that he sexually abused her, when he was teaching ‘Quran’ to the victim.
A case FIR No. 90/ 2023 has been registered against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
