Javed Akhtar, the renowned lyricist, recently watched Karan Johar’s movie “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” and shared his honest review on Twitter. He described the film as a “must watch” and praised it as one of the most entertaining Hindi films he has seen in recent years. Javed Akhtar’s wife, the talented actor Shabana Azmi, also stars in the movie, which was released on July 28.
In the film, Ranveer and Alia reunite on-screen after their successful collaboration in Zoya Akhtar’s “Gully Boy” (2019). The cast includes veteran actors Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan, who portray Ranveer’s family, the Randhawas, and Bengali actors Tota Roy Chowdhury and Churni Ganguly, as well as veteran actor Shabana Azmi, who play Alia’s family, the Chatterjees. The story revolves around the love story of Rocky and Rani as they navigate the challenges presented by their very different families.
Earlier in the week, Karan Johar organized a special screening of the film, attended by numerous celebrities who praised the movie on their Instagram Stories. Abhishek Bachchan, whose mother Jaya stars in the film and who has previously worked with Karan in “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna” (2006), called “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” a “total and complete family entertainer.” Neetu Kapoor, Alia’s mother-in-law, also appreciated the film and complimented Alia’s shining and gorgeous performance. Alia herself shared her mother’s praise on her Stories and expressed her love. In a separate post, Alia’s mother also lauded the film as a “full fat family entertainer” coming to the audience on Friday.
