IPL 2023: Former India batter Aakash Chopra has heaped praise on Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, saying he almost won the match for his side. Chahal picked up four wickets but could not prevent his side from losing against SunRisers Hyderabad by four wickets in a last-ball thriller. Chopra said if RR opener Jos Buttler batted really well, while adding that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson also had good strikes rates against SRH. Buttler scored 95 runs off 59 balls, hitting 10 boundaries and four maximums.

“Buttler batted extremely well. He scored 20 runs off 20 balls at the start but overall he scored 95 runs off 59 balls. So no one should talk about the strike rate because it was 161 even after scoring 20 runs off 20 balls. Yashasvi had a strike rate of 194 and Sanju Samson’s strike rate was 173,” said Chopra.

IPL 2023: He went on to say that Samson also batted extremely well for RR, while Heinrich Klaasen and Glenn Phillips played explosive knocks for SRH. Phillips scored 25 runs off seven deliveries, hitting a single boundary and three sixes and was even adjudged the Player of the Match.

“Who all were the contenders for the most valuable player? Jos Buttler scored runs – didn’t score a century but 90-plus score and Sanju Samson batted extremely well. If you see SRH’s batting, you had Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi, and then Heinrich Klaasen’s short and Glenn Phillips’ explosive knocks,” Chopra added.
