Internet restrictions: Due to “intense communal tension” and a disruption of the public peace, the government had ordered the suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in the Nuh district starting at 4 p.m. on Monday. Later, limitations were also placed in certain other areas until August 2. Until August 5, the decision was made to continue suspending mobile internet and SMS services. Following the communal conflicts, the decision was made to prevent any disruption of the peace and public order.
Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana declared on Wednesday that the Rajasthan Police are free to take action’s against Bajrang Dal member Monu Manesar, who was charged with the murder of two Muslim men in February and is widely believed by some to have been the catalyst for the violence in Nuh.
Anil Vij, the home minister for Haryana, stated on Wednesday that social media has significantly contributed to the violence in Nuh and that the state government has established a three-person committee to oversee social media activity starting on July 21. He declared that the committee will pursue necessary legal action against anyone found to be propagating disinformation or bigotry.
In addition to Nuh, the services will continue to be suspended in Faridabad, Palwal, and the Gurugram district’s subdivisions Sohna, Pataudi, and Manesar.
