The C-295 military aircraft landed in Vadodara on September 20, days after it was handed over to the IAF in the southern Spanish city of Seville.

A senior Agra Air Force Base officer told India Today that this aircraft is specially designed for paratroopers. Since Agra has the country’s largest paratrooping training school, this aircraft has been in this city.

In this regard, Agra Tourist Welfare Chamber Secretary Vishal Sharma said that India has increased its power in the sky by inducting the first C-295 aircraft into the Air Force.

This aircraft can be used for everything from supply of military logistics to transportation of troops and emergency operations, he said.

India will buy 56 such planes from Spain that will replace the aging fleet of the Avro 748 aircraft. The Avro aircraft have been serving the Indian Air Force for the last 60 years.
