Huma Qureshi, widely regarded as one of Hindi cinema’s most underrated performers, added a new dimension to her career with the web series Maharani, She received praise for her portrayal of the ‘illiterate’ Rani Bharti. The actress reprised her role in its second season, which was released earlier this year. Speaking during of Agenda AajTak 2022, in a session titled Maharani, the actress revealed that a powerful scene was removed from the series’ second season as the team felt it might lower the character’s dignity.

Huma Qureshi said that Maharani Season 2 featured a scene in which her character hit her husband Bhima Bharti (Sohum Shah) after catching her with his lover. The team, however, decided to replace it with an even more powerful sequence..
“There is a scene where I catch Sohum Shah’s character having an affair. On paper, there is an emotional moment where she lashes out at her husband and the other woman too gets one slap or whatever. On the edit table, Subhash (Kapoor) sir and the directors felt that it was somewhere lowering the dignity of the character. We decided to have a scene where she wipes her sindoor in the public sphere. It was a strong personal and political move to make for her at that stage,” said Huma.
BUSY TIME FOR HUMA
The actress, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. She received praise for her work in Monica, O My Darling. The film premiered on Netflix on November 11 and received praise from most critics. It was directed by Vasan Bala. Huma will next be seen in Tarla and Pooja Meri Jaan.
