The weather on Saturday stated that the current heatwave condition is expected to persist in the Jammu division, while the Kashmir Valley will experience generally pleasant weather over the next nine days.
A local MeT department advisory issued indicated that dry and hot weather with a heatwave over the plains of the Jammu division is expected to continue until 4th June. The advisory also noted that there would be no heatwave in the Valley during this period.
Today’s minimum temperatures were as follows: Srinagar recorded 15°C, Gulmarg 6°C, and Pahalgam 8.4°C. In Jammu city, the minimum temperature was 30.1°C, Katra 28.3°C, Batote 17.9°C, Banihal 26.2°C, and Bhaderwah 12.2°C. Yesterday, the maximum temperatures were 28°C in Srinagar and 43.7°C in Jammu.
A meteorological department official reported that Srinagar recorded a low of 15.0°C, up from 13.4°C the previous night, which is 2.5°C above normal for this time of year. Qazigund had a minimum of 12.0°C, up from 10.0°C, which is 0.9°C above normal. Pahalgam recorded a low of 8.4°C, up from 5.4°C, which is 1.8°C above normal.
Kokernag’s minimum was 11.2°C, up from 9.3°C, which is 0.1°C above normal. Kupwara recorded a minimum of 11.7°C, up from 10.7°C, which is 0.7°C above normal. Gulmarg’s minimum was 6.0°C, down from 7.2°C, which is 1.6°C below normal. Jammu recorded a low of 30.1°C, up from 28.5°C, which is 4.6°C above normal. Banihal recorded 16.2°C, Batote 17.9°C, and Bhaderwah 12.2°C.
