Gramlok Sahitya Academy Spotlights Kashmiri Poems and Short Stories in Literary Extravaganza at Gandhi Memorial College in Raipur, Bantalab. The event, organised in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, showcased an array of Kashmiri poems and short stories.
Vijay Wali skillfully anchored the program, with Dolly Tiku Arrwal, a Member of the Kashmiri Advisory Board, serving as the event coordinator. Dolly Tiku, in her welcoming address, underscored the profound history of the Kashmiri language, highlighting its inclusion in the 8th schedule.
Professor Shad Ramzan, a luminary in Kashmiri literature, expounded on the global significance of literature and characterised the Kashmiri language as unifying for both Kashmiri Muslims and Kashmiri Pandits.
The literary showcase featured accomplished poets, including Satish Safeer, Ramesh Nirash, Rajinder Aagosh, Ashok Gowhar, and Tej Sahar. Rouf Ahmed Adil Kralwari, a Member of the Advisory Board, expressed gratitude to the audience, with special recognition given to Dolly Tiku.
Professor B L Zutshi, President of the Hindu Education Society Kashmir, advocated for transcending divisive figures like Mehjoor and Nadim, emphasizing the accessibility of literature to all. Kuldeep Khoda, former DGP J&K Police, emphasised the primacy of humanity over religion, expressing concern about the diminishing depth of literature and the importance of preserving the linguistic heritage.
Brij Nath Betab shared a poignant anecdote, while Prof Ashok Aima, former Vice Chancellor of Central University Jammu, delved into the spiritual essence of Kashmiri soil and lamented the lack of initiatives for Sharda Peeth in Kashmir. Prof Satish Talshi, the Principal of the institution, extended a gracious vote of thanks, concluding a literary affair rich in cultural resonance and intellectual discourse.
