07 April2025 : A protest erupted at Pattan Hospital as patients expressed anger and frustration over the lack of medical staff in the Outpatient Department (OPD). Despite approximately 1,500 patients visiting the OPD, only one doctor was available to attend to them.
Upon contacting the Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Pattan, it was confirmed that an additional doctor had been assigned to the OPD in response to the situation. The BMO also mentioned that one doctor was absent, and an explanation had been sought regarding their absence. He acknowledged the shortage of doctors in the hospital but assured that efforts are being made to manage the crisis.
However, locals raised serious concerns, questioning the administration’s claims. According to residents, the Pattan Trauma Hospital has 20 to 22 doctors posted, and they are now demanding answers as to why, despite such a large number of doctors, only one was present in the OPD, leaving patients to suffer due to mismanagement.
The incident has sparked widespread resentment among the public, who are calling for accountability and better healthcare facilities in the region.
