As per the direction of Ladakh Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Kargil today organized the 1st National Lok Adalat.
Three benches were constituted for different kinds of cases pending in the Courts like Criminal Compoundable Matters, cases u/s 138 NI Act. MACT cases, Bank recovery cases, matrimonial disputes, other civil cases etc.
The first bench was presided over by Phuntsog Angmo, Secretary DLSA/Chief Judicial Magistrate Kargil, the second bench was presided over by Munsiff/ JMIC Sankoo and the third bench was presided over by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kargil, Abdul Gaffar Zargar.
Despite heavy snowfall in Kargil region over the past two days and non-availability of transport facilities, huge number of people participated in the National Lok Adalat.
A total number of 114 cases were referred to the National Lok Adalat out of which 100 cases were disposed of. A settlement amount of Rs 100,000 and fine of Rs 31,150 was imposed.
