Bus carrying BSF jawans on election duty falls into ditch…four dead, 36 injured

A bus carrying BSF jawans on election duty in Jammu and Kashmir fell into a ditch in Budgam district on Friday. Four jawans died in the accident, while 36 are injured. Three of the deceased have been identified as Dayanand, Ram Ajadia Singh and Sukhbasi Lal. The seriously injured have been referred to SKIMS Soura in Srinagar. The rest are being treated at District Hospital Budgam and Khan Sahib.

An official said that the bus went out of control and fell into the ditch near Brail Vathrehal village. The jawans sitting in it were deployed for security arrangements in the assembly elections. The injured jawans have not been identified.

An army vehicle also fell into a deep ditch on the Billawar-Machedi road in Kathua. One jawan died in the accident that took place around 10:30 am on Friday, while six others are seriously injured. The deceased jawan has been identified as Ram Kishore of Madhya Pradesh. Among the injured soldiers, four are from Uttarakhand, one each from Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
