Apple has introduced a new feature aimed at reducing the annoyance of static pop-ups on web pages. The “Distraction Control” feature, part of the upcoming Safari update, is designed to eliminate elements such as sign-in windows, cookie preference pop-ups, newsletter signup banners, and autoplay videos. Currently available for iOS 18 beta users, it will soon be rolled out to the general public.

While this feature enhances the browsing experience by hiding intrusive elements, it is not an ad blocker. According to MacRumors, ads can be temporarily hidden but will reappear upon refresh, as the feature is not designed to manage dynamic elements. Distraction Control is now accessible to developers via the fifth beta releases of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, with an expected rollout to public beta testers soon.
