The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pulwama, Dr Sheikh Abdul Aziz on Tuesday visited Pampore, Awantipora and kick-started a plantation to commemorate the ‘My Town My Pride’ programme.
The ADDC said ‘My Town My Pride’ is an initiative to strengthen Urban Local Self-Governance and to serve the people with responsive, accountable and participatory governance. He said the programme has three main objectives viz. public outreach in towns, strengthening grass-roots democracy, and service delivery at doorsteps of people.
Dr Aziz appealed to the people to be part of the decision making process and decide about utilization of funds meant for development of their wards by participating in ward meetings during ‘My Town My Pride’ programme. “People should meet and discuss their development issues and prioritize work as per need and develop an action plan for their own wards” he added.
He said the visiting officers shall identify the gaps and ensure sustained and synchronized efforts to remove bottlenecks.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pulwama, Dr Fayaz Ahmad Banday visited MC Pulwama and directed all the concerned officers of line departments to set up a dedicated stalls/Kiosk at the venue of the program.
He also asked all the concerned officers to work in tandem and coordination so that people of the town get benefitted of the new initiative of the Government.
