In a remarkable display of civic engagement, 102-year-old Hagi Karam Din Bhat cast his vote at a polling booth in Reasi during the second phase of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Expressing his hopes for the future, Bhat emphasized the importance of a good government, stating, “If a good government is formed, a lot of work will be done… The youth should get a good education, businesses should be set up.”
He encouraged others to participate in the electoral process, urging, “Everyone should come and cast their votes.” The third phase of the elections is scheduled for October 1, with the counting of votes to take place on October 8. Bhat’s participation highlights the significant role that even the oldest members of the community play in shaping the future of their region through voting.
