In Kerala’s Thrissur a heist using gas cutters was reported, with around Rs 65 lakh looted from three State Bank of India (SBI) ATM centers in the district. The incidents occurred between 2 and 4 am.
A four-member gang, wearing masks and travelling in a white car, carried out the thefts by spraying black paint on the CCTV cameras before using gas cutters to break open the ATMs. CCTV footage has been collected as part of the investigation.
Police were alerted during the vandalism of Thissur’s Naikkanal Shornur Road SBI ATM but the gang escaped before they could be caught. All three thefts occurred within two hours, covering a radius of 25 km. Authorities have issued alerts to Kerala’s Palakkad, Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, and Salem, where similar robberies have recently taken place. The investigation has been extended to neighbouring districts.
