Yuzvendra Chahal on frequent snubs from India’s playing XI: This is not chess, this is team game

Team India is currently making waves in the world of cricket, impressing authorities and cricket legends alike, including Brian Lara, with its vast talent resource and incredible performance. The former West Indies skipper, presently part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise, has even put forth that India have such an abundance of talent that it could easily field an entire second and third XI.

The talent pool, however, also imposes difficulties with selections, as we have recently observed with Yuzvendra Chahal. Despite being a top-notch spinner, Chahal was not included in the three-match ODI series against West Indies, which India won 2-1. The shortfall was competently addressed by spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Chahal made his return in the first T20I against West Indies, which India lost by four runs. Yet the leg-spinner remains remarkably focused, emphasising the importance of team achievement over individual performance.
