Smriti Irani response: In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks regarding the vote of no confidence against the NDA government, Union Minister Smriti Irani claimed that their alliance members had applauded for the first time when a member of Parliament spoke of the “death of Mother India.” Smriti Irani responded to Rahul Gandhi’s claims that his’mother’ had been murdered in Manipur and that the NDA administration had divided the state by saying, “You are not India because India is not crooked. India rejects dynasties in favour of individual merit, thus now more than ever, people like you should keep in mind the advice given to the British to leave India. Corruption and Dynasty both left India. Merit is now accepted in India.
“Bharat ek awaaz hai, Bharat hamari janta ki awaaz hai, dil ki awaaz hai,” remarked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. We are from the Awaz, and we are from Manipur. Bharat Mata’s hatya iska matlab aapne Manipur mein ki…You destroyed India by annihilating the Manipuris. You are not a patriot; you are a traitor.
In order to criticise Congress, Smriti Irani again described the horrors of the Emergency and claimed that their past is marred by blood.Bharat maa ki hatya ki baat karne wale kabhi bhi mez nahi thapthapate, Smriti Irani retaliated angrily. Congressiyo ne baith kar ma’ ki hatya ke liye mez thapthapaai hai.
Smriti Irani responded, saying that the government never shied away from discussion of Manipur, but the opposition did. Rahul Gandhi then exited the chamber. “Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi have all stated repeatedly that the administration is willing to hold a debate on the Manipur issue. We didn’t flee from it as the opposition did, Smriti Irani stated.
