Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has said it is “wrong” to say that he is raising questions about the 2019 Pulwama terror attack only after leaving the post.
Malik’s remarks came on Monday after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statement. Shah had said, “He is making allegations after parting ways with us”.
“It is wrong to say that I am raising this issue when I am not in power,” he told reporters in Rajasthan’s Sikar. Malik said he raised the issue on the day of the attack as well.
Pulwama Attack
In February 2019, 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed in a terrorist attack on a convoy of security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama.
Malik was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir at that time. He had recently alleged intelligence failure in connection with the attack and also said that the central government had refused to provide aircraft for the movement of security personnel.
Amit Shah on Satya Pal Malik
Last week, when Shah was asked about the allegation that Malik’s recent summons by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was linked to his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government headed by him, he said such allegations were not true. This is because Malik was called by the probe agency earlier also.
In an interview with India Today, Shah had said, “I can say with full confidence that the BJP has not done anything that needs to be hidden. If someone is leveling allegations after parting ways with us, the media and people should judge him accordingly.”
Amit Shah on next PM candidate
Malik on Monday described Defense Minister Rajnath Singh as a “serious candidate” for the prime minister’s post, saying “if he is destined to become the prime minister”.
Amit Shah on next year Elections
Asked about BJP’s prospects in next year’s Lok Sabha polls, he said, “I wish it a good performance, but nobody knows what will happen in politics and elections.” The current situation is difficult for them, they have to fix some things.
Malik claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not spoken on the issue of Gautam Adani and it will harm him. He said that the Prime Minister should also speak on the Pulwama issue and if there is any investigation then action should be taken.
