WormGPT: A Malevolent Chatbot Unleashes Sophisticated Phishing Attacks

Researchers have unveiled WormGPT, a novel chatbot comparable to OpenAI’s groundbreaking ChatGPT. However, unlike its predecessor, WormGPT has been deliberately designed for malicious purposes, specifically phishing attacks on an unprecedented scale.

WormGPT is described as a sophisticated AI model that was created with malevolent intent by a hacker, as reported in an article by security researcher Daniel Kelley for SlashNext. Unlike ChatGPT, this AI tool lacks ethical boundaries or limitations.

Functioning on the GPTJ language model developed in 2021, WormGPT positions itself as a blackhat alternative to conventional GPT models. Its potential for causing harm is worrisome, as even inexperienced users could use it to carry out various tasks related to malware, based on its training from diverse sources, particularly those concentrating on malware-related data.

The hacker showcased WormGPT’s capabilities on a hacker forum through screenshots. The chatbot demonstrated its aptitude for crafting remarkably persuasive and strategically cunning emails, exemplifying its potential for sophisticated phishing attacks.
