Women’s T20 World Cup: England continue dominant run over India with 11-run win

England continued their dominant run over India in the Women’s T20 World Cups with a -run win on Saturday.

This was England’s sixth win over India in the competition’s history as the heroics of Renuka Singh and Smriti Mandhana went in vain. India had won the toss on the day and elected to field first. On the day when Harmanpreet Kaur admitted that bowling was a concern for India, it was Renuka who produced an impressive spell of bowling.

The India pacer delivered in the very first over as she dismissed Danni Wyatt in the third ball with Richa Ghosh taking a blinder. In her next over, Renuka first castled Alice Capsey and followed it up with the scalp of Dunkley in her third over as India seemed to be in control of proceedings.

Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight then came together to stitch together a vital partnership to steer the ship to safety for the England team. Knight was dismissed in the 11th over for 28 runs by Shikha Pandey, but England had reached 80 runs by then.
