Women’s rights not priority, says Taliban month after education ban

The Taliban has said in a statement that overturning restrictions on women is not a priority for the administration in Afghanistan, days after denying there would be a permanent university education ban on women.

In recent months, the Taliban regime has banned women from universities as well as from working in non-governmental organisations. The curbs have invited international condemnation as they violate the rights of Afghan women.
