Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he will hand over his social media accounts to accomplished women from various fields on March 8 to mark International Women’s Day.

During his monthly Mann Ki Baat address, Modi stated that these women achievers would use his social media platforms to share their experiences and work. He emphasized the importance of celebrating and respecting the resilience of women, highlighting their increasing participation across different sectors.

In a similar initiative in 2020, Modi had given control of his social media accounts to seven prominent women on Women’s Day. With millions of followers on platforms like X, YouTube, and Instagram, Modi is among the most followed global leaders online.

During his address, the Prime Minister also urged citizens to tackle the growing issue of obesity, stressing the need for India to become a healthier nation. Citing research, he pointed out that one in eight individuals suffers from obesity, with cases doubling in recent years and a fourfold increase among children.

As a preventive measure, Modi suggested reducing oil consumption by 10% and encouraged people to challenge ten others to do the same, creating a chain of healthier habits. He also played audio messages from notable figures, including Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, to reinforce the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Additionally, Modi encouraged people to celebrate National Science Day by spending “one day as a scientist” at research labs or planetariums. He also advised students appearing for board exams to stay positive and stress-free, noting that the latest format of Pariksha Pe Charcha has received widespread appreciation.
