Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) yesterday, in view of extreme cold weather conditions, further extended the winter vacations for Jammu summer zone schools up to January 12, 2024.
However, the teachers have been asked to resume their duties from January 8, 2024. Besides, the Heads of Institutions (HoIs) have been asked to ensure classes for 10th to 12th standards through online mode during the extended vacation period.
“In view of extreme cold weather conditions, the winter vacations of government and private recognized schools functioning in summer zones of Jammu division, ordered by this office vide order No1354-DSEJ of 2023 dated December 18, 2023 are further extended till January 12, 2024,” read an order issued by Director School Education Jammu, Ashok Kumar Sharma.
“However, all the teaching staff shall resume their duties with effect from January 8, 2024 and HOIs shall ensure classes for class 10th to 12th through online mode during the extended vacation period,” Director School Education Jammu directed.
“Any laxity in this regard from any government or private school shall be viewed seriously and dealt with under rules,” he warned. Earlier on January 4, DSEJ had extended the winter vacations for Jammu summer zone schools by two days i.e., up to January 6, 2024, in view of inclement weather conditions.
On December 18, DSEJ had ordered ten-day winter vacation with effect from December 26, 2023 to January 4, 2024 in all government and recognized private schools of the summer zone of Jammu division.
DSEJ had also directed that all teachers would “remain available on demand for any online guidance of students during vacation period.”
