‘Will cancel passport, visa’: Haryana cops’ warning to protesting farmers

With farmers set to take a call on resuming their march to Delhi on Thursday, the Haryana Police has sought the cancellation of passports and visas of those who have been involved in violence during the agitation.

Protesting farmers from Punjab have been camping at the Khanauri and Shambhu points on the Punjab-Haryana border since February 13 after their march to the national capital was stopped by security personnel. They said they would take a call on the march on February 29.

The farmers are agitating to press the central government to accept their demands, including a legal guarantee for a minimum support price (MSP) for crops and a farm loan waiver.

Meanwhile, the Haryana Police said they have identified the farmers who have been involved in violence during their agitation and added it would ask the respective embassies and government to cancel their visas and passports.

“We have identified those involved in violence coming to Haryana from Punjab in the name of farmers’ protest. We have identified them with CCTV cameras and drone cameras. We will request the ministry and embassy to cancel their visas and passports. Their photos, name and address will be given to the passport office. We are working on cancelling their passports,” said DSP Ambala Joginder Sharma.
