Namblan, June 05 : The team of wildlife protection department alongwith local villagers of border village Namblan near Line of Control (LoC) rescued a wild leopard from the area.

The animal is in injured condition and is believed to have received injuries in recent cross border shelling.

As per wildlife protection officials, a call was received from village that a wild leopard is roaming in the area posing threat to local villagers as well as their livestock.

Upon this, a rescue operation was launched by Wildlife Protection team led by Forester Mohammad Mehboob under the supervision of Warden Wildlife Protection, Amit Sharma.

The team, with the help of locals, launched a rescue operation in which the animal was successfully tranquilised and later captured.

As per wildlife protection officials, the animal was found to be in very weak condition due to prolong starvation while it was also having multiple injuries including deep injuries in limbs as well as serious injuries inside mouth.

The injuries are believed to have been caused in cross border shelling.

The leopard has now been shifted to veterinary aid center at Manda Jammu and it’s advanced treatment is going on with one fore-limb of leopard has also been amputated.
