WhatsApp Introduces "Silence Unknown Callers" Feature for Enhanced Privacy and Control

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced a new privacy feature for WhatsApp called “Silence Unknown Callers.” This feature empowers users with greater control over their incoming calls by automatically filtering out spam, scams, and calls from unknown individuals.

In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg stated, “You can now automatically silence incoming calls from unknown contacts on WhatsApp for even more privacy and control.” When enabled, these calls will not ring on users’ phones but will still appear in the call list in case they are from important contacts.

WhatsApp, under Meta’s ownership, has also introduced a “Privacy Checkup” feature to ensure users are aware of the available protection options on the platform. This feature guides users through essential privacy settings, enabling them to select the appropriate level of protection.

By tapping “Start checkup” in the privacy settings, users can navigate through multiple privacy layers that strengthen the security of their messages, calls, and personal information.

Furthermore, WhatsApp recently unveiled additional privacy-focused features, including Chat Lock to safeguard sensitive chats with a password, Disappearing Messages that automatically vanish, screenshot blocking for View Once content, and the ability to maintain privacy regarding online presence.
