The cyber cells of the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad cities have seen a rise in the cyber fraud complaints from past few days . While addressing the issue, the police commissioner said currently 3 complaints are from Pune and others are from Pimpri Chinchwad. All scams are related to WhatsApp frauds.Hackers manipulate the calls and messages of the individuals,demanding money from the friends and relatives of the victims.
A female Journalist shared her experience as a victim, and stating that: “I received a call from a person who claimed to be an employee of a courier firm. He asserted that their delivery person was unable to reach my address. The caller provided me a contact number starting with 401, followed by a contact number. I dialed the number thinking that it might have something to do with the company’s internal communication. My friends called my husband inquiring about the money I was asking from people, I learned that I have fallen prey to the scammers.
Police inspector of Pune cyber station,Minal Patil expressed concern over rise in such cases. Patil warned the people to be cautious of such hacks and scams.
A cyber crime investigation experts warned to victims to dysfunction internet banking immediately.
