Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan today visited the remote Tehsil Marmat of the District and presided over a public outreach programme, under the unique Block Diwas initiative of the UT administration. He, along with the team of District Administration, listened to public issues, demands, aspirations, and feedback from the public and PRIs.
While on way to Goha, the Deputy Commissioner did Shramdaan (Cleanliness drive) at Bargrann Market, seeing plastic/ other bottles and polythene spread on the roadside near the passenger shed along with all the officers accompanying him. Later the local shopkeepers also joined them.
He inspected PHC Goha and departmental stalls at the venue.
DDC Councillor, Marmat Mushtaq Ahmed Batt, Sarpanches, Panches besides a large number of people hailing from adjoining Panchayats of Block Marmat attended the Block Diwas meeting and projected several demands and problems being faced by them.
Similar block Diwas programmes were held at Panchayat Ghar Kari Chhatra, Block Bhalla, Sub District Bhaderwah; Panchayat Kharangal, Tehsil Gandoh, Sub Division Gandoh; Panchayat Charota, Sub Division Assar; and Tehsil Headquarter Chiralla, Sub Division Thathri, where PRIs, people presented their demands and concerns, to which senior administrative functionaries responded proactively.
At the Block Diwas program in Goha, locals demanded construction of building for Government Degree College already sanctioned and the land identified, Up gradation of local Government Schools, inclusion of left out eligible families under PMAY, creation of tourism infrastructure in the area, speedy construction of Girls Hostel, establishment of fire services unit, upgradation of roads, new roads to the unconnected habitations, providing adequate staff in Educational institutions, release of Pending MGNREGA material payments, compensation for acquired land by government agencies, construction of PHC building at Goha, retaining the Marmat area under jurisdiction of PWD Division Doda instead of PWD Division Bhaderwah, Detaching the area from forest Division Batote and linking it with forest division Doda, creating education zone for Marmat, uninterrupted electricity supply to the area, setting up ATM facility in Goha besides, presented various local and individual issues.
After listening to their demands and issues, the DC redressed many grievances on the spot by passing directions to the concerned officers.
He urged the public, especially youth to avail the conducive ecosystem to generate livelihood & foster development of the area.
“In October, District Employment and Counselling Centre Doda shall conduct counselling sessions in Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges of the area to address the employment issues,” he informed and motivated locals to use scientific methods to increase agricultural production with the help of concerned departments and bring their quality products to the market through cooperatives for enhanced income generation. He stressed starting agro-based startups to boost the local economy.
Responding to the demands, the DC assured the PRIs and general public of the area that all their genuine issues would be addressed in a time bound manner. The DC impressed upon the officers to inform the people about income generating and beneficiary oriented schemes launched by the Government of India and UT Govt.
