Rajouri, Jan 22: Five patients from Badhaal village, who fell ill under mysterious conditions in recent days, have been treated in Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri.
These five patients also include a one-year old child.
This was stated by Principal, Government Medical College Rajouri, Dr Amarjeet Singh Bhatia, who is heading the healthcare aid, amid ongoing crisis like situation after mysterious deaths in Badhaal village of Kotranka sub division in Rajouri district.
Principal GMC Rajouri also assured that the institute was taking all necessary steps to deal with the situation arising following the mysterious deaths.
Briefing about the measures taken, Dr Bhatia stated that nine patients from Badhaal village, with deteriorating health conditions, were hospitalized at GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri.
Unfortunately, four of these patients succumbed to their condition, but fortunately, five others were successfully treated by the doctors. “They have since recovered,” he said.
“These patients have returned home and are now living normal lives,” he added.
Dr Bhatia further said, “Five people, who have been treated and cured successfully include a one-year old child namely Sultan Ahmed.”
Principal said that all required steps were taken to ensure the best possible care for the patients.
Further briefing about ongoing work of investigation, Principal GMC Rajouri said that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Government of India responded promptly to the situation and all required steps were taken immediately after the incidents.
He said that earlier various renowned national level institutes were roped in for probes including sampling.
“Now the probe has been extended further under the Ministry of Home Affairs with more teams and renowned experts of national level are in Rajouri to probe the situation. Different teams are working on different aspects and fresh samples of water, food and all other related material have been taken and an aggressive probe as per SOP is going on,” he said.
