Baramulla, 20 January 2025 (Gulistan News Tv) : In a surprising incident in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a vital drinking water pipeline serving the villages of Naradari, Taripora and nearby areas was blocked by unidentified individuals. The culprits filled the pipeline with wood, cloth and other waste materials, causing a disruption to the water supply.

Local residents discovered the blockage and quickly took it upon themselves to clear the debris, restoring the water supply to their homes. Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media, bringing widespread attention to the issue and highlighting its severity.

The blockage has raised concerns about the potential contamination of the water supply due to the materials used in the obstruction. Residents feared that if hazardous substances were involved, it could have posed a significant health risk to the community.

In addition to the pipeline blockage, residents of Dangarpora, Reshimaqam, Naradari, Taripora and adjoining villages have expressed concerns about the water shortage. Despite the availability of water resources in the area, the supply has been intermittent, and when water does arrive, it is in limited quantities. This shortage has created difficulties for daily life and raised concerns about sanitation and hygiene.

“The water shortage has been persistent, and the blockage of the pipeline has only added to our problems,” said a local resident.

Another resident said, “We have enough water resources, but the lack of proper management and maintenance has left us facing these issues.”

When the matter was brought up with Bram Jyoti Sharma, Chief Engineer of the Jal Shakti Department Kashmir, he assured that he would look into the issue and take the appropriate steps. (Gulistan News Tv)
