Water conservation a collective responsibility of citizens, says PM Modi, inaugurates Jal Jan Abhiyan

Highlighting water security as an important concern for India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated ‘Jal Jan Abhiyan’, a joint nationwide campaign of Brahma Kumaris and the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti. The event was organised in Rajasthan’s Sirohi district. Referring to the issue of water scarcity as a global problem, PM Modi said people needed to realise the seriousness of the problem and that water resources in the world are limited. He further added that conserving water resources is a collective responsibility.

“Due to such a large population, water security is an important concern for India. It is a shared responsibility of all of us,” he said.

He also spoke about major issues like water pollution and depleting groundwater, referring to them as major challenges for the country. He urged citizens to start today to combat water pollution and work towards water security as a collective force.

PM Modi further said, “There shall be a tomorrow only if there is water, and for this, we have to make joint efforts from today.”
