VIP Vehicles Prohibited from Using Siren and Multi-Toned Horn in Ladakh: Police

On Wednesday, the Ladakh Police prohibited the usage of sirens and multi-toned horns by the motorcade or escort vehicles of VIPs in the Union Territory (UT).

The police have instructed that necessary departmental and penal measures be taken against those who violate the ban.

The use of a siren is now permitted only in the case of extreme emergencies and for the movement of the President of India, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Home Minister.

It is worth noting that Brigadier BD Mishra (Retired), the Lt. Governor of Ladakh, expressed serious concern recently over the police halting vehicular traffic during his and other VIPs’ movement.

The LG issued an order stating that the normal flow of traffic should not be disrupted for locals and tourists, even during his motorcade’s movement on the street. He further instructed the police to prohibit the unauthorized use of sirens by individuals.
