The world’s tallest statue of B R Ambedkar has been unveiled by Andhra Pradesh government in Vijaywada.
B R Ambedkar is known as the architect of Constitution of India.
Vijaywada is all set to unveil Ambedkar’s tallest statue on 20 January. This statue is set in Swaraj Maidan area of Vijaywada.
The 125-foot statue, which is actually 206 feet tall when including the 85 ft pedestal it stands on , reaches a height of 125 feet without the pedestal. This statue situated in Swaraj Maidan offers a variety of amenities such as an experience centre, 2000 seated convention centre, a food court and a children’s play area, walkways, water bodies and a musical fountain.
Swaraj Maidan, which was a lesser known place otherwise, will now be known as ‘Dr B R Ambedkar Swaraj Maidan’. The gates of this statue will open today for the common public.
Officials of Department of Information and Public Relations said : ” It is not only the tallest non-religious statue of India but can also be recognised as the only ‘Made in India’ statue.”
“This project was designed by M/S Design associates Noida,” added the Official.
