Amid the nationwide strike announced by the agitating farmers’ unions, the situation continues to be tense along the Punjab and Haryana’s Shambhu Border with police resorting to tear gas shelling and stone pelting.

The protest today has entered its fifth day as the breakthrough remains to be achieved between the government and the protesting farmers, who met on Thursday for a third round of meeting to discuss farmers’ longstanding demands, including Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The Gramin Bharat Bandh called by the farmers disrupted activities across several sectors, particularly, transportation and agriculture.Owing to the strike, Urban areas may experience shortages in milk and vegetable supplies, while transport services will be impacted by the participation of central trade unions in the bandh. The availability of state buses will depend on whether local unions are engaged in the strike.
