Valley Uro-Con 2023: A three day premier medical conference concludes at GMC Srinagar

Valley Uro-Con 2023, a premier medical conference that was hosted by the postdoctoral Department of Urology concluded at the Super Specialty Hospital Srinagar on Saturday where for the very first time in history of J&K, Kidney transplantation was relayed live from Max Saket and bladder peacemaker was demonstrated from Jaslok hospital

Dr Syed Sajad Nazir, Head of the Department Urology and Chairman Valley Uro-con 2023) told that on 3rd day, 14 masterclass lecturers were delivered by International and National faculty members on various urological topics and Robotic surgery, Renal transplant, laparoscopic surgical complications, Sacral neuromodulation, Artificial intelligence in urology and single port Robotic surgery, spirit of Renal transplant and Hugo robotic surgical experience.

“Around 250 delegates attended and at the end conference ended with a valedictory function where all faculty members, residents, operative staff and industry people where facilitated for their participation for a successful conference,” he said.

He said that on the second day, live kidney transplantation which was done by Prof Anant Kumar from Max saket along with his team including Dr Samit Chatervadi, R maheshwari and others was relayed to GMC Srinagar.

“It was the first time in the history of J&K that Kidney transplantation was relayed live and about 150 delegates and students watched in the auditorium of GMC,” he said.

Also laparoscopic partial 3D nephrectomy was done by Prof Anup Kumar from Safdarjung hospital New Delhi while Prof Shailesh Raina Director Urology and Robotics from Jaslok Hospital and research centre Mumbai demonstrated Sacral neuromodulation for neurogenic bladder know as bladder pacemaker,” he said.

“Dr Tanveer Iqbal performed Supine PCNL for renal stone followed by TUR BT and Last case of the day was done by Dr Rishi Nayyar from AIIMS New Delhi wherein he demonstrated Mini PCNL for renal stone and all operated patients are doing well,” he added.

“For the first time in the valley Sacral Neuromodulation “BLADDER PACEMAKER” a ground breaking revolutionary technology for treatment of bladder problems was demonstrated,” Dr Sajad said.

He said that on day one eight advanced urological procedures were performed by renowned urologists.

The process include Renal Stone Disease Surgeries, Retrograde Intra-renal Surgery(RIRS) One by Prof (Dr) Syed Sajjad Nazir and another by Prof (Dr) Kandarp Parikh, Carcinoma Prostate (Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy) performed by Prof (Dr) C Malikarjuna, Two Pelvi-ureteric Junction obstructions (PUJO): Laparoscopic repair of PUJO (Pyeloplasty) One by Prof (D C Malikarjuna and another by Dr. Syed Md Ghouse, Non Functioning kidney due to stones: Laparoscopic (Retroperitoneoscopic) nephrectomy by Prof(Dr) Muneer Khan, Thulium laser excision of very large (200 gm) prostate by Ashish Saini and Bipolar excision of enlarged Prostate (118 gm) by Dr Anshuman Kapoor.
