Heavy rains: In a relief from the heatwave conditions prevailing over the last few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells over parts of Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan.
These weather activities will be associated with dust storms and isolated hailstorms.
As per the IMD, light to moderate rains and dust storms are possible over west and central Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, east and west Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh, parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Heavy rains: The IMD has also issued an orange alert in several states till May 26 amid predictions of heavy rainfall.
Light to moderate rain is likely over Sikkim, Northeast India, south Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, interior Tamil Nadu, and South Karnataka, the IMD said, adding light rain was also likely over Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Heavy rains: According to the weather department, the minimum temperature in Delhi today is likely to hover around 22 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature might reach 38 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Bengaluru today is likely to hover around 23 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature might reach 32 degrees Celsius.
The pre-monsoon rains in Bengaluru continue to cause havoc, with 52 deaths recorded since April.
While some casualties were reported due to falling trees, some were reported due to thunder strikes or drowning in rainwater.
