Civic polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held in two phases on May 4 and 11, the State Election Commission announced on Sunday. The counting of the votes for both phases will be held on May 13.
The election will be held on 14,684 posts in 760 Urban Local Bodies across the state.
The elections to 17 mayoral posts and 1,420 councillor seats will be held through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), while ballot paper will be used for the election to remaining posts in Uttar Pradesh. The state Election Commission also gave instructions for deployment of additional police teams at sensitive places.
