The UT Government has set in motion the allotment process of 2456 quarters for Prime Minister package employees constructed in different parts of Kashmir valley.
An order to this effect was issued by Secretary Department of Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation (DMRR), Anil Kaul here today.
As per the order, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Migrants, Dr Arvind Karvani has been entrusted with the powers of making allotments in favour of employees appointed or to be appointed under PM package in Kashmir valley at Ranbirpora, Machbhawan and Shangus in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Zewan in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district, Kakanmaran in Budgam district, Allowpora II in Shopian and Chowgam in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
Out of 2456 quarters, highest number of 936 quarters have been constructed at Zewan in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district while 336, 240 and 320 quarters have been constructed at Ranbirpora, Machbhawan and Shangus in Anantnag district. One hundred ninety two quarters for package employees have been constructed at Kakanmaran in Budgam district while 240 have been constructed at Allowpora II in Shopian district and 192 in Chowgam area of Kulgam district.
The Government has set the criteria for the allotment of these accommodations and the directions have been issued to the concerned officer that the allotments be strictly made as per the date of initial place of joining in conformity with the appointment order and to be ascertained from service book record.
The order further said that the priority and category wise criteria to be adopted for the allotment of accommodation to the package employees. The priority in the allotment should be given to the employees who are suffering from life consuming diseases, with certificate to this effect issued by competent authority will be allotted quarters at ground floor or first floor, the order said.
