The Srinagar’s iconic Lal Chowk wore a festive look on Tuesday evening as a series of events were organized as part of the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory Foundation Day.
The people from different walks of life including the locals as well as tourists gathered at newly refurbished Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower), setting the stage of musical evening.
Speaking to media people who were present on the occasion said they feel a strong sense of belonging and pride seeing their traditions and culture celebrated in such a grand manner.
“The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region, with traditional music performances and dance forms that have been part of Kashmir’s history for generations,” they said.
“I was moved by the beauty of our traditional music and dance. It’s a reminder of our rich cultural heritage. The dazzling lights and decorations adorned the surroundings has made Lal Chowk a picturesque sight,” said Bilal Ahmad, a local from Natipora.
“Seeing Lal Chowk lit up like this is breathtaking, with music, this function makes me fall in love with Srinagar,” said Rizwan Mir, a local shopkeeper said.
Another local, Wahid from Sonwar Srinagar said, “I can’t wait for the winter season to unfold, as the celebration at Lal Chowk has set the perfect tone, and the celebrations here at Lal Chowk are a testament to the resilient spirit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
